TESTING AND INSPECTION
As specialist electrical contractors, Durham Electrics offer a full electrical testing and inspection service for your business or residential premises.
Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
Electrical testing is completed with a detailed report provided on completion. Think of an EICR as an MOT for your electrics.
Maximum periods allowed between Testing & Inspection:
10 years - domestic dwellings and every 5 years thereafter
5 years - commercial installations
3 years - caravans
1 year - swimming pools
Other instances when an EICR should be completed:
Property Letting - when a property is being prepared to be let
Prior to buying or selling a previously occupied property
Visual Condition Reports (EVCR)
These type of electrical reports do not include testing and are only suitable if the installation has been throughly tested recently. EVCRs are recommended between property lettings where there is evidence of electrical maintenance programmes in place.
Thermal Imaging Survey
There are some circumstances when visual surveys do not provide the best value for money. There are also circumstances where the client cannot afford the time for full intrusive electrical condition reports. Durham Electrics are able to offer a solution to this problem through thermal imaging surveys.
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)
In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment or commonly known as Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) is required to ensure that you are providing safe electrical equipment to your workforce. It is not mandatory to test employees' personal items however, if your policies and procedures allow for such items in the workplace then you can insist they are tested to make sure they are safe to use on your premises. Durham Electrics can offer advice on this subject if you are a small business looking for further guidance.
Microwave Leakage Testing
Exposure to high levels of microwaves can cause damage to tissue. We provide free microwave leakage testing during PAT testing at your premises.
